General Membership Rules
- Active Hartlepool membership is open to all
- Concessionary rates apply only to Hartlepool residents who meet eligibility criteria
- A family membership includes one or two adults and up to three dependent children living at the same address at the time of application
- Junior memberships must be countersigned by a parent or guardian
- Active Hartlepool wristband must be shown to receive discounted prices. Without a wristband, standard rates apply. Access to certain areas of facilities will be refused if an Active wristband is not shown
- Memberships are valid for 12 months from the date of issue
- Lost or damaged wristbands can be replaced for a fee (original expiry date still applies)
- A photo is required at sign-up to prevent fraudulent use
- Active Hartlepool memberships are issued subject to the rules governing entry and use of the facilities
Direct Debit Memberships
- Open to all; concessionary rates require proof of eligibility at sign-up and during membership
- Active Business memberships require proof of employment at an eligible organisation on sign up. Failure to show proof of employment will result in the membership being cancelled
- Hartlepool Borough Council employees are required to input their payroll number to their membership account when signing up for a membership
- By signing up to a direct debit, you agree to an initial 3-month contract, then a rolling monthly contract
- 30 days’ notice is required to cancel (by email to: active.member@hartlepool.gov.uk)
- Failed payments must be resolved within 7 days or membership will be cancelled
- Active Hartlepool reserves the right to cancel memberships for non-compliance
Booking Terms
- Members can book activities 8 days in advance; non-members 3 days in advance
- Payment is required at the time of booking
- Bookings must be made online, via the app, or in person (no telephone bookings)
- Cancellation policy: 48 hours’ notice required for refunds
Gym Rules
- Entry requires a completed physicial readiness questionnaire and induction
- It is your responsibility to update the centre if any medical conditions declared on your assessment form deteriorate or you begin to suffer with any new medical condition
- Sessions are one hour; access may be restricted during peak times
- Appropriate clothing and footwear required (no black soles, sandals, or flip-flops).This requires the participants to be wearing a t-shirt/vest or sweatshirt and shorts or tracksuit bottoms. Jeans or trousers will not be permitted
- Wipe down equipment after use; paper towels provided
- Limit cardio equipment use to 20 minutes during busy periods
- Only water and sports drinks allowed; no food
- Use lockers for personal items - no bags in the gym
- Return all equipment after use
Group Exercise Classes
- Members can book classes 8 days in advance; non-members 3 days in advance
- Payment required at booking
- Waiting lists are in operation for when group exercise classes are full. Once a space becomes available, all customers on the waiting list will be notified.The space will then be allocated on a first come first served basis
- Cancel at least 48 hours before start time (members with inclusive classes can cancel up to 30 minutes before)
- Failure to attend or cancel may result in a penalty charge and restricted booking access
- If a class is cancelled by management, refunds or transfers will be arranged
Learn to Swim Programme
- Available at Mill House Leisure Centre for all ages, including adults
- Payment options: 10-week block or monthly direct debit
- Direct debit customers receive free swimming outside lesson times
- Our lessons run using a continuous assessment, so there are no set dates when participants are assessed. This means that as soon as you're ready to progress to a new lesson, you can. You can monitor progress online through Home Portal
- Certificates and badges available for purchase at reception when a participant achieves a stage
- Lessons will be cancelled for two weeks over the Christmas period, this is factored into the direct debit pricing
- If a swimming lesson is cancelled, your next direct debit payment will be reduced to reflect the cancellation
